X Introduces Timestamp Links for Uploading videos

X introduces its users with an amazing feature of adding Timestamp Links. This feature will allow users to navigate the longer content or videos in the application, as users or uploaders are able to add timestamp links to the attached clips.

An example of this feature can be seen in a podcast uploaded on X by Lex Friedman, a Russian-American computer scientist. This will allow users to tap on the link that will skip the video and direct them to the specific part of the content.

Now, the question is whether the feature will be the same for all devices or all users. Or what if you are using iOS? If users are not finding the links in the post above the blue, the feature is only added or active on iOS. However, the officials have revealed that X is looking to make the opportunity more extensive and widely available in the future.

X first announced the timestamp feature in August 2023. They also shared an example with users of how they will be able to add references within the text of their posts.

Users who want to add timestamps in their videos uploading to X are simply required to put the time markers in their posts.

On their help portal, X explains how users can simply use the feature:

“While composing a post containing a video, a timestamp will automatically become clickable on iOS once you post if you reference a specific time in the video in any of the following formats:

  • x:xx
  • xx:xx
  • x:xx:xx
  • xx:xx:xx”

Users are just required to put the numbers wherever they want to add. The system of X then automatically links the numbers with the time references in the playback.

X officials further announced that the clickable timestamp links will only be visible on the content or posts uploading with the single attached video. Moreover, users will be allowed to put up to 50 timestamp links or references to a single post.

It will facilitate users widely in navigating the longer clips and X is looking to put more focus on long-form content in the future. This focus may be the consideration for users’ 2024 platform strategy.

X always tries to facilitate its users and for this purpose, it comes with amazing features regularly. How this new feature will help you save more time and bring productivity to your tasks, comment below and share your thoughts and experiences about this newly launched feature of X.
