Threads Allows You to Hide Both Like and Share Counts From Your Threads Posts

Threads comes with a small but handy update at the beginning of 2024. A significant change has been introduced in the latest version of threads enabling users to hide both Like and Share counts on their posts on the app.

The idea of this update can be seen through a thread post, published by a social media expert, Matt Navarra. You can find in the post detail screen that the new listing allows users to select an option to hide their likes and share counts. Before this, Threads’ users were only allowed to hide like counts separately.

Users can find this option at the post level so that they have the choice to hide their likes and share counts on each post. However, users can also make this as their default setting for all of their updates or posts on the app.

Users can go to settings and then the privacy section to enable this feature. You can also find the procedure here on how to enable this function. But remember that when you enable this feature, it will be applied to your Instagram posts as well.

Engagement metrics have long been the experiment by Instagram and Meta on a broader scale. This effort is an integral part of the ongoing initiatives of these apps as it offers users additional tools, fostering a more efficient in-app environment. Thus, it helps reduce the pressure and judgments associated with these metrics.

Back in 2019, Instagram launched a feature to experiment with hiding like counts on Instagram posts. The experiment was initially launched for only a few particular users on Instagram.
The experiment revealed some promise to help depressurize the Instagram experience. But then COVID happened and Instagram halted this experiment for a time, as it needed to focus on some other elements.

In 2021, Instagram rolled out the feature for all of its users on the app to hide their like counts on the posts. Since then the feature has been included within its suite of well-being and management tools. The feature was primarily designed to help people customize their own specific experience on the app.

After introducing this feature, there have been some benefits marked by the IG users. And for now, the platform is looking to expand the same feature for Threads.

Applying this feature to your profile is a good option as it eliminates some of the anxiety that may come with public sharing. As Threads is considered the more upfront and public application, the feature can arguably be more valuable for Threads users.

Well, this is not a major shift made by the app; but it is an interesting feature. It may help Threads users to better manage their experience on the app.

Threads is a newly launched social media application. Compared to other social media platforms, Threads got instant recognition in the online market. On its launch day, it was installed around 30 million times.

Today, Threads has reached over 160 million monthly active users. The app is trying to target the worldwide market and is available in 100 different countries.
