Meta Introduces Business Verification in New Zealand

Meta is set to introduce Business Verification on Instagram and Facebook starting in New Zealand. The test will begin within the coming weeks in selected countries and will expand meta-verified businesses on WhatsApp in the near future.

Meta team unveiled at the Meta’s Conversations Conference in Mumbai that Mark Zuckerberg announced that they will soon expand verified businesses to Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. This remarkable program can develop more authority and authenticity among businesses.

Meta shared:

“With the help of Meta Verified, businesses can gain customers’ trust and stand out more prominently on our apps by letting them know they’re interacting with the right business. We want users to feel sure that the verified businesses they engage with and communicate with are legitimate and that their brands are protected on our apps”.

Businesses have the choice of subscribing to one subscription on a single app or to a subscription package that includes Instagram, Facebook, and, in the future, WhatsApp. With a monthly subscription package, businesses will have access to a toolkit for professional business accounts, Facebook pages, and WhatsApp phone numbers. It inculcates a number of features:

  • A Verified Badge to confirm your authenticity
  • Impersonation Protection for monitoring
  • Improved Discovery to increase visibility
  • Account Support to help troubleshoot account issues

Prices for monthly subscriptions begin at USD 21.99 per Facebook page or Instagram account, or USD 34.99 for both. These subscriptions will be available for purchase on Instagram and Facebook in the coming weeks only in selected test countries. A maximum of two acceptable business assets may be verified under one business account. If you manage multiple businesses at a time select which would you like to verify Instagram, Facebook, or both.

Businesses purchasing on mobile will be eligible to subscribe only for one asset i.e. Instagram account or Facebook page. Before, during, and after a firm subscribes, Meta incorporates a multi-step verification procedure and numerous tests. Businesses must meet Meta eligible requirements, tenure of business account whether Facebook or Instagram page, account activity, and 2-factor authentication.

Businesses must validate their information and applicant’s connection with the accounts such as phone number, email, or domain verification. Your application will be reviewed for 3 working days, after that you will receive an update.

However, WhatsApp Business subscribers will receive additional premium features. They can create custom WhatsApp pages that can be easily visible with a web search and multi-device for chat support to respond to customers. However, WhatsApp subscription pricing is not yet determined.

Once verified you cannot change your business name or profile picture. If in future Meta verified business accounts would like to change their business details they will need to undergo the process of verification review again.

Earlier this year Meta announced verification for creators but now the company is introducing the same feature for businesses. Meta hopes that Business Verification will help to reduce fraud and build trust between consumers and businesses.
