Instagram Now Allows You to Choose Not to Receive DMs Receipts

Back in November 2023, Instagram announced that they were testing the option to turn off read receipts for direct messages. Now, in the first month of 2024, Instagram has rolled out the capacity for its users to turn off the read receipts for the DMs.

From now on, all Instagram users are allowed to control when “Read” and “Seen” indicators will appear for the senders within conversation streams. Through an official announcement on X, Instagram reveals that users can switch off the read receipts via their Instagram Direct inbox.

The setting to turn on this new feature is available within each chat. To activate this amazing feature, users are advised to tap on their name or a group chat name. Here they will find a menu on which the option of “Privacy and Safety” will be available. Within the privacy and safety option, they can easily convert the option of the read receipts.

Turning off the read receipts can be a handy way for users to avoid unnecessary stress over their lack of reply. This is because some people get a little impatient when they do not receive a reply within adequate time after their message is seen by recipients.

However, many people perceive the situation that you are not going to reply to them straight away. But still, if the scenario causes you unwanted drama from certain people, including friends, and family members, you can have the option to avoid this stress.

The feature has also become a handy tool for many brands and businesses on Instagram. It can help you manage your consumers’ expectations. Well, the basic rule to thriving your business on Instagram is to take care of your customers.

The best way of taking care of them is to reply to their queries. But, under some circumstances, it may not be possible for you to reply to all of your clients or customers. So, this feature will help you better avoid such problems.

Instagram has become one of the most used and popular social media channels from across the world. The platform is managed by Meta and the company is bringing a lot in the app to make the users more facilitated. Recently, we have seen that to sort out the privacy concerns highlighted by the European community, Meta separates Instagram from Facebook for EU users.
